Diagnosing And Treating Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections In A Child

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is fairly common in children. It is caused by microorganisms infecting the urinary tract. These infections can severely hamper kidney functions and may affect the urinary tract and the associated organs, if not treated. Therefore, it is necessary to consult an expert and experienced pediatric urologist for an efficient treatment.

A case reported at Dr. Gursev Sandlas’ clinic helps to demonstrate the effectiveness of his UTI treatment. If your child is experiencing similar urinary issues and you are looking for answers and effective treatment strategies, consult Dr. Gursev Sandlas.

Case Report

A 5-year-old girl, who was frequently ill and continually on antibiotics came to our clinic. Exhibiting persistent high fever, she was admitted to the other hospital three times in eight months, each time diagnosed with a urinary infection and treated with IV antibiotics. She underwent multiple tests, but all the efforts went in vain as the root cause of the recurrent urinary tract infections remained undetermined. Other doctors advised the parents to focus on the child’s hygiene, suggesting that she would get better in time. Her parents had known that hygiene alone wouldn’t improve their child’s condition. They also consulted six different doctors in the hope of finding the right solution. Fortunately, they found our clinic and consulted Dr. Gursev for further treatment.

Diagnosis

During the initial phase of the consultation, Dr. Gursev simply looked at the patient and told her parents that she could be suffering from bladder infections due to reflux or constipation. To confirm the initial diagnosis and to check if urine was refluxing into her kidneys, Dr. Gursev suggested MCUG (Micturating Cystourethrogram). The MCUG report confirmed Dr. Gursev’s suspicion.

Treatment

Dr. Gursev suggested a minimally invasive robotic paediatric surgery procedure. He also showed various surgical videos of similar cases and explained surgical procedures. Upon agreement, she was admitted for surgery.

Outcome

The surgery was extremely successful with minimal impact. She recovered faster than expected, resuming normal activities within a week.

Conclusion

Dr. Gursev’s quick and accurate diagnosis and compassionate care were pivotal in resolving the patients’ recurring health issues. Her parents expressed immense gratitude for saving their child’s life. They also acknowledged and praised our compassionate care throughout treatment sessions. Dr. Gursev’s ability to diagnose accurately and provide effective treatment from the first visit was a lifesaver.

This case study demonstrates Dr. Gursev’s treatment efficacy and accuracy in detecting paediatric urological cases and providing optimal care during the treatment course. If you are looking for excellent medical care, look no further and book a consultation today to give your child the right and result-oriented treatment.

Testimonials

Hello, I am writing the following paragraph hoping to help any other parent who is experiencing the same issue as mine. I have a 5 year old daughter who had been sick quite often. She was Always on antibiotics. One year ago my daughter kept getting worse. At first, the previous doctors would assume it’s just a virus and they let her go home hoping she gets better. They told me these are covid kids and that’s why she was always with fever! But as the time passed by her fever went higher and she got weaker.

When they did blood test her CRP was always very high. She got admitted to the hospital 3 times in 8 months which they prescribed antibiotics IV and diagnosed her with urine infection. This happened 3 times but every one just gave her antibiotics and as soon as she was ok they let us go home without any further investigation. I Mean right investigation. They did many test but not able to find the source of infection.

I was very desperate knowing the depth of her infection cannot be only from her hygiene. Kept changing the hospitals and doctors trying to explain to them that they need to look deeper. Thank god after seeing 6 different doctors we met Dr.Gursev. I won’t forget. He just looked at sally and he told me in a healthy girl like sally high infection in bladder could be caused by 2 things: reflux or constipation.

He gave us the next appointment for MCUG which was taking a look at her kidneys incase the urine goes up to kidney.

After doing that test we found out Dr. Gursev was right. He explained the procedure for us and he showed us his videos of previous procedures he has done. Next thing you know sally was admitted to the hospital for her surgery. Dr. Gursev was kind enough to cancel his travel to stay with Sally for the next day. The surgery was microscopic with minimal impact. The recovery of sally was faster than i expected. She was running around after 1 week. Doctor Gursev was sent from god to us to solve the biggest issue of our lives and we cannot thank him enough. Unfortunately is not easy to find excellent Doctors in dubai who can diagnose very quickly and tackle the problem. However, Dr.Gursev was the only one who could manage to see between the lines from the first visit. We are forever thankful to him.
