What is Robotic Pediatric Surgery?
In a robotic-assisted pediatric surgery, the surgeon will sit at a console some feet away from the child while observing a 3D video screen. The surgeon will use the hand and foot pedals to control a robot with three or four arms.
- One arm 3D camera. The camera will send the picture of the organ to the video screen.
- The other two or three arms are used for holding small surgical tools. The surgeon will insert the tools through small-sized cuts in specific sections of the child's body, the area requiring treatment.
Precaution needed to be taken after the surgery
- For the first 48 hours, only sponge bath your child.
- Do not submerge the incision in bath for around one week of the surgery.
- As pain becomes well-controlled, your child can return to daily activities.
